Before you ask how to hack?

So i herd u liek hacking.

Before you waste everyone's time and ask "how do i hack", you should understand a few things beforehand. Not many people will give you a play-by-play on hacking, because they have better things to do, and it's already all available if you just search.

(Just to get this out of the way, I know hacking's official meaning, but I am going to refer to the commonly-used definition that a hacker is someone who gains access to systems by force.)

Now that I've cleared that up, a real hacker is one who learns the "good" side of technology: computer and network security, programming, understanding on how devices work, et cetera. He (or she) then uses that common knowledge for the unintended reason. He reverse engineers things, finds security holes and backdoors, develops exploits and backdoors, and generally finds unique solutions to problems.

Everything you need to learn and know is already out there; you just have to look for it. If you don't want to search, you may not be ready for the knowledge that hacking requires. It takes practice like anything else, and everyone has to start somewhere.

This is not to say that questions aren't allowed at all. If you have something to start off with -- say, you have written some code but have run into a problem -- concise questions describing your problem are welcome and someone with experience will likely be glad to share his information and help you. Likewise, if you are just curious about something that cannot be explained in documentation, people would love to input their voice into a discussion.

Remember this, emerging hackers, and you will go far in your voyage. I don't mind at all if you use any part of this post, or all of it; in fact, spreading the word to places who get hit the most with script kiddies can do a great deed to the Internet.
